Welcome to another edition of Mellow Mondays! In my contract with P&B, it’s stated that I must average two posts a month in order to see all that internet money we’ve been quietly generating. Seeing as how I posted zero times last month, it’s time to pump it up in August. It’s been a while since my last post so let’s get right into it.
I’ve tried to get into Wilco before, but none of their songs got me like this one. This song has great energy and has a real oldies vibe throughout it all. Oh and they hang out with Barack.
This song came out around the same time “Gas Station” did. This is a light and smooth summer song to play as the party is winding down and the sun is starting to set.
Dream On – OCD: Moosh and Twist
Let me start off by saying that these two are fucking sick. They just graduated high school out in Philly and are looking to make it big in the next year. One of my good buddies from college is managing this group and he put me onto them almost a year ago. It’s taken me this long to get them on P&B but I promise there will be a post dedicated exclusively to the OCD: Moosh and Twist ‘Up Before the World’ Movement. Anyways, back to the song. This song is fire. They have such a positive outlook on their life and future that they are able to seamlessly transfer that positive energy into their songs. Everything about them feels homegrown, humble, and genuine. Yet they have the confidence in their abilities to go completely HAM on tracks. Pardon the mediocre quality of the song, I promise I will post a HQ version when I find one.
Trouble On My Mind – Pusha T ft. Tyler The Creator)
This is another solid collaboration between Pusha T and the Neptunes. Throw in a little Tyler the Creator and you’ve got a pretty beastly song.
RewindRhyme – Gorilla Warfare Tactics
I downloaded their first mixtape a couple months back and liked what I heard. This is a group that is based out of New York and is heavily influenced by the feel of old-school hip-hop. This song is no different. Also, did you know that this group is made entirely of Indians? Big ups.
1st Class – DJ Holiday ft. Wale, Big Sean & B.o.B
These three rappers drop some respectable verses over a sampled laid-back beat.
Field of Dreams – Theophilus London
The last three songs in this post are from Theophilus London. He’s been an artist that has intrigued me for a couple years now. He’s got a pretty eclectic taste in music and as a result, I think he struggled to really find his own sound. I’m not really sure what kind of music he makes now, but it’s generally pretty distinct and I think it sounds pretty good. He’s an ok rapper, a solid singer, an interesting producer and when you combine those skills your bound to come up with some good shit.
Why Even Try (RAC Remix) – Theophilus London
Another song by Theophilus but for those who caught my last post, you’ll immediately notice the RAC influence in this remix. This song gets a little repetitive at the end, but it’s easy listening.
I Stand Alone – Theophilus London
This is the new theme song of HBO’s “Made In America”. It’s pretty damn catchy so you should probably get on this now.
Bonus:
Who The Fuck Are You – Cory Enemy and Dillon Francis
Pretty bomb dubstep track
Enjoy!
