Been a while since I wrote a Drum and Bass post, but after hearing Brookes Brothers’ latest album, shit was necessary!

Brookes Brothers is comprised of, believe or not, two brothers; Phil and Dan Brookes, who hail from London, and have been repping the Breakbeat Kaos label since 2007. Their sound could best be described as taking a modern hip hop hook and injecting it with spacey synth melodies and chords to create a super-liquid DnB atmosphere. But unlike that conventional Liquid DnB, the Brookes Bros include a certain energy that keeps you awake and wanting more. Their sound does vary a bit in the album with some big hitters like “The Big Blue”, but also includes very smooth spacey tracks like “Daybreak” (synths on that track are crazy!!).
